Two people flown to Wellington Hospital after workshop fire in Akitio
Two people injured in a workshop fire in Akitio have been flown to Wellington Hospital.
Emergency services responded to the workplace incident about 12.30pm, a police spokesperson said.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said two helicopters, one ambulance and a first response unit attended the scene.
One person was in a critical condition, while the second was in a serious condition.
A police spokesperson said the incident had now been referred to WorkSafe.
A WorkSafe spokesperson said they have been notified and are making initial enquiries.
"Part of these initial enquiries will establish whether the incident occurred at a workplace. Please note this is not an investigation at this time."
