Covid-19: 20 new community cases; 3 new cases in managed isolation

There are 20 new community cases of Covid-19 - all in Auckland, the Ministry of Health said in a statement. 

Of the new cases announced today, only five were infectious while in the community, the remaining 15 were all in isolation throughout the period they were infected.

The total number of cases linked to this current Delta outbreak is 821 - 804 in Auckland and 17 in Wellington. Three cases have recovered in Wellington and 114 cases in Auckland have now recovered. 

Three new cases in managed isolation have also been reported, as well as a historical case.

Two arrived from Serbia and Montenegro on September 1 via the United Arab Emirates. The third case arrived from the United Kingdom via Singapore on September 2. They are at an MIQ facility in Auckland. 

The historical case identified at the border arrived on August 28 from Afghanistan via the United Arab Emirates. 

Cabinet will decide on alert levels for the rest of the country outside of Auckland this afternoon and will be announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at 4pm. At this stage, Auckland will remain in level 4 lockdown until midnight Monday, September 13.
