Lifting weight requirement on Makaramu Bridge
Repairs by Central Hawke's Bay District Council to the Makaramu Bridge have been successful.
The Council are now lifting weight restrictions on the bridge up to Class 1, which is 46,000 kg with a 50 km/h speed limit in place while the scaffolding on the bridge is still in place.
The Central Hawke's Bay District Council want to thank the Pōrangahau community for their patience and support during the repairs and the Council says it appreciates that it wasn't easy and was at times testing.
But the support that the Council receivied from the community to ensure that the restrictions were adhered to while this critical repair took place was incredibly helpful.
