Rock icon Joe Walsh to play Otarata Pā this Sunday

This Sunday one of the greatest guitarists in the world returns to the place of his sobriety epiphany to play a memorable concert and share his journey in sobriety.

Joe Walsh, guitarist of The Eagles among many other incredible musical accolades, returns to Otarata Pā to play a show this Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.

Otarata Pā is a very special place for Walsh. In 1989 while touring with Herbs, Walsh experienced an epiphany during a visit to the ancient Pā site in Waiohiki.

Walsh would later hail this experience as the beginning of his recovery from addiction.

The event on Sunday will be koha entry and includes four hours of entertainment, including NZ Idol judge Frankie Stevens acting as MC, Brannigan Kaa, Pereri King, EIT music students and Greenmeadows School's ukuelele troupe The Ukettes.

Walsh will perform and speak about his life and recovery from addiction.

After his performance at the pā, his next concert will be with The Eagles in Manchester at the largest indoor arena in the UK.
