Safety improvements to Meeanee/Murphy Road intersection

Safety improvements are being made to the Meeanee/Murphy Road intersection in Taradale.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Napier City Council said: “We’re changing the way the pedestrian crossings operate as well as adding a new one!”

The Council says that works have been planned for the school holidays to help minimise disruption to this busy road.

The project is set to begin on Monday (15 April) and the target date for completion is Sunday 28 April, depending on the weather.

“The forecast looks promising but we’ll be keeping a close eye on it.”

“While we’re carrying out this work, the traffic lights will be turned off. There will be a Stop/Go in effect during the day (Monday-Friday) and a temporary roundabout in place when the site is unattended. Work may be carried out during the weekend if it’s needed.”
