CHB’s Little Easy ride is rolling around again

Registrations for the Little Easy CHB ride are rolling in as young and old get ready to cycle the fantastic Tuki Tuki Trail in Central Hawke’s Bay on Good Friday.

This year will be the fifth instalment of the fun 12km Easter ride, with interest boosted by the addition of a finish-line outdoor concert, with talented local musicians, food trucks and lots of Easter entertainment back at Russell Park after the ride.

The Little Easy is touted as a leisurely meander, ideal for families wanting a relaxed start to their Easter weekend, adding a little exercise into a traditionally chocolate laden weekend.

“It’s a great event for out of towners or locals with friends and family staying, looking for something to do at Easter weekend. Grab the bikes and come to Central Hawke’s Bay,” says Molly Baldwin, Central Hawke’s Bay Tourism Co-ordinator.

“The Trail is great riding and the Swing Bridge is a fun feature on the ride.”

The ride is unlike most cycle events, non-competitive and aimed at those wanting to take a leisurely pace and enjoy the views. With pop up entertainment and surprises positioned along the track, music and the Easter Bunny making an appearance.

The rise starts at 11.30am and follows the Tuki Tuki Trail from Russell Park, down to the impressive Swing Bridge and back to Russell Park along the Waipawa side of the River.

Last year more than 200 riders took part in the Central Hawke’s Bay event, a precursor to Hawke’s Bay Tourism’s ‘Big Easy’ ride held on Easter Saturday.

This year, two lucky Little Easy riders will take away a brand-new bike with an adults’ Trek Dual Sport bike valued at $899 and a children’s Avanti MXR bike valued at $229, up for grabs on the day.

Riders can register online for the Little Easy CHB at www.thebigeasy.co.nz and registration is open on the day. Adults are $15, children $10 and family passes are available. All registered riders get a t-shirt.

“Even if you’re not keen to getting on a bike, come along and enjoy the fun at Russell Park from 1pm on Good Friday. It’ll be a cool little atmosphere down at the Park,” says Molly.
