Bic Runga to perform at Toitoi in first stop of album's anniversary tour
New Zealand music icon, and self-proclaimed cynical fairy, Bic Runga will travel to Heretaunga this July to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of her eleven-time platinum, best-selling album Beautiful Collision.
The multi-award-winning songwriter and producer — whose many accolades include the Silver Scroll award, the New Zealand Order of Merit, the Legacy Award and "the most Tūī awards by any individual (twenty)" — will perform her 2002 album in full in Hastings, Tauranga, Wellington and at Auckland Town Hall.
She will be joined for each date by rising star Georgia Lines.
"Beautiful Collision was my favourite album to make, and still means a lot to me after 20 years,” says Bic.
"Even back then, I had some awareness of wanting to make a sound that was timeless and I knew that the essence of that was good songwriting and also weirdly because I was a drummer, it was to do with snare drum sounds. I think a drum sound is what dates things."
"I was really young and naive when I wrote these things, I sound kind of like a fairy. And I was thinking, how am I different now and I was like, I'm a cynical fairy."
Beautiful Collision was released in 2002 and features the hits Get Some Sleep, Something Good and Listening For The Weather.
