Fourteen new cases today, one probable case - By the Numbers

Covid Update August 13th 2020 - By the Numbers

There are 14 new cases today.

One new case is part of managed isloation, and returned a positive test on day-3 of routine testing in Hamilton.

She is a woman in her 30s who arrived from the Phillipines on August 8th.

There are 13 new community cases, they are all linked to the 4 existing cases, and as such are being considered as a cluster.

One of the new cases is a student at Mt Albert Grammar, a relative of the previously announced cases.

Staff and students considered close to the contact have been contacted by the contact tracing service, and advised to self-isolate.

The student wasn't symptomatic at school and stayed home as soon as symptoms set in.

Three cases are employees of Americold, the same workplace of one of the previous cases. Another 7 are family members of these employees.

Two Americold sites - Mt Wellington and the airport site - have been closed. Staff at the airport site have been tested, as have the Mt Wellington staff.

Another case works at Finance Now, the workplace of the "index case". They were admitted to North Shore Hospital overnight but have since been discharged. One of their family members also tested positive.

One of the positive cases visited an aged care facility in the Waikato.

The person didn't have symptoms when visiting, but developed them the day after. They were visiting a family member. One person linked has already returned a negative test.

The family who have since given a positive result also visited Rotorua, checked into the Wai Ora Lakeside hotel on August 18th, then dined at the Herbs and Spice Thai restaurant that evening.

The next day they visited Pak'n Save before going to the Heritage Farm and 3D Art Gallery. At 4pm that day they went to the Skyline Gondola and Luge.

They also made a day trip to Taupo and went on a boat trip. They then went back to Rotorua and went to Burger Fuel. They stopped at a petrol station in Hamilton on the way back to Auckland.
