Iwi seeking logo for its new fishing company
After announcing plans this week to take over and rename Hawke’s Bay Seafoods, local iwi Ngati Kahungunu is now fishing for a logo to represent the new venture.
Hawke’s Bay Seafoods, its directors, a manager and subsidiary companies were hit with quota-related fines totalling more than $1 million on Tuesday.
Following the court sentencing, Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated chairman Ngahiwi Tomoana said the iwi wanted to acquire the business, and planned to run its fishing operations through a company called Takitimu Seafoods Limited.
According to Company Office records, a company with that name is yet to be incorporated, however, the iwi yesterday revealed a competition to design an “inspirational” logo for the Takitimu Seafoods operation.
It’s calling on local artists to design a logo incorporating the company’s key values including cultural and economic strength, environmental sustainability, independence, health and vibrancy.
The prize for the winning logo is $1000 plus a kaimoana kete.
Submissions must be in by noon on March 13 and the iwi plans to announce the winning the design the following day.
