Hawke's Bay Wine Auction announce new General Manager

The Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Samantha Kershaw as the new General Manager.

Kershaw is a marketing and events professional who has spent the past decade working with some of Aotearoa’s most valued brands and largest events, and has managed a wide range of fundraising activities, including for Farmstrong and the Hereworth Old Boy’s Association.

“The auction is an absolute highlight on the Hawke’s Bay calendar. Both a celebration of our outstanding wine industry, and the largest annual private contributor to Cranford Hospice each year, the wine auction holds a special place in many people’s hearts, and I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the incredible group of sponsors, winemakers, and passionate supporters in delivering another stand-out event this year” says Kershaw.

“Our committee is incredibly excited to have Sam join the team. Her passion and energy are going to be a great asset for continuing the event’s success. Last year’s auction raised over $300,000, and plans are well under way to take that to even greater heights in the years to come ” says Peter Cowley, Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction Chairman.

Established in 1991, the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction has raised over $4.5 million for Cranford Hospice, and through the support of a loyal network of sponsors and winemakers ensures that every dollar raised at auction is donated.

“Most of Hawke’s Bay’s winemakers contribute to the auction. Our Lots include wines made exclusively for the auction, and are selected and blended by the winemakers to represent the best and most exciting wines available each year” says Cowley.

Organisers are expecting to see a big increase in the number of syndicate buyers this year.

“Many of our Lots sold to syndicate buyers in 2023. It’s a fantastic way for wine lovers and collectors to get their hands on our bigger volumes and exclusive wines. If you can battle through the decision of who gets to hold the paddle, it’s an incredibly fun and successful way to enjoy the auction” says Kershaw.

This year’s auction will take place on Saturday 14th September at Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts and Events Centre, with tickets set to be released in July via www.hawkesbaywineauction.co.nz.
