Weekend of crashes on Hawke's Bay roads leaves several injured

One person has been seriously injured, and State Highway 50 is partially blocked, in the latest of several crashes on Hawke's Bay roads this weekend. 

A police spokeswoman said a ute overturned on State Highway 50 between Creek Rd and Glencoe Station, Maraekakaho, about 2.15pm.

The spokeswoman said the road was blocked until 2.40pm when one lane was opened. 

A St John spokesperson said they were of the accident at Maraekakaho at 2.13pm and responded with one ambulance.

"We assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital in a serious condition."

A pedestrian was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital with serious injuries following a hit and run in Waipukurau last night. 

The police spokeswoman said the incident occurred about 10pm on Jellicoe St.

The St John Ambulance spokeswoman said they assessed and treated one patient with serious injuries who was transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital's emergency department.

Police are making enquiries into the incident as the vehicle involved had left the scene before emergency services arrived.

On Friday evening, emergency services attended two motor vehicle incidents resulting in injury. 

The first was a crash involving two cars on Taradale Rd in Napier at about 6pm.

Paramedics assessed and treated one patient with moderate injuries who was transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital's emergency department, the St John spokesperson said.

The second incident involved a car crashing into a building on Nelson St in Hastings at 11.52pm. One person was assessed and treated with moderate injuries at the scene.
