Hawke’s Bay police have arrested seven people in relation to stolen vehicles in the last 24 hours, and are investigating a number of other thefts.

Police have made a number of arrests in relation to stolen vehicles in the last 24 hours.

A police spokesperson said they stopped a stolen vehicle and apprehended five youths at about 3pm yesterday. All have been referred to Youth Aid. Police would like to thank the public for their help in recovering this vehicle.

Additionally, Police spotted a vehicle of interest in Bay View last night.

"The officers spoke to the two occupants, and subsequently arrested them both for a burglary in Puketitiri which took place only hours earlier," the spokesperson said.

"Cash and other items were recovered and returned to the rightful owners."

A 29-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman are appearing in the Hastings District Court today on a number of charges relating to the burglary.

The past couple of days have seen a number of cars stolen in Napier, Hastings, and Havelock North. These are all being investigated, including whether the thefts are linked.

"Police thank the public for their cooperation in holding offenders to account and would like to remind the public to report any suspicious behaviour immediately on 111."
