Rescue helicopter flew six missions last week

The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service was called on to carry out six missions last week.

Here are the flights the crew were involved in:

Tuesday February 25

7.30pm – Tasked by HBDHB to fly to Wairoa Hospital with a nurse and midwife to a female patient with pregnancy complications. The patient was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

Thursday February 27

5.15pm – Tasked by the Air Desk to Pourerere Beach to a male patient who fell from a moving vehicle, the patient was in a critical condition, so after initial treatment at the scene from the helicopter’s intensive care paramedic he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

Friday February 28

3.45pm – Tasked by Air Desk to Cape Kidnappers where a 49-year-old American tourist on a horse whilst trekking adventure fell and injured her hip and shoulder. She was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up treatment.

Saturday February 29

9am – At the request of HBDHB, flew to Wairoa Hospital with a flight nurse to retrieve a male patient, aged in his 30’s, with a medical condition.

Sunday March 1

12.30pm – Tasked by Air Desk to Tongariro Crossing where a 27-year-old British tourist fell and injured an ankle. She was flown to Taupo Hospital.

4.45pm – Tasked by Air Desk to Fern Hill to a motocross event where a 20-year-old male motorcyclist was involved in a major accident resulting in critical abdominal injuries. After initial treatment at the scene by the intensive care paramedic the patient was transferred to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
