Tap water in some parts of Napier may be discoloured this week

Napier City Council is carrying out scheduled maintenance of the drinking water reticulation network this week and is warning the work may result in some residents’ water being discoloured.

The maintenance is being carried out late at night tomorrow through to the early hours of Thursday morning, and again late at night on Thursday through to the early hours of Friday.

The council says the work has been scheduled for late evening and the early hours of the morning because that’s when water usage is at its lowest level.

It is warning that because the maintenance may cause the flow of the water to change direction at times, people in Poraiti, Greenmeadows and Tamatea may experience discoloured water late on Wednesday (after 10pm) and early Thursday morning.

The Thursday night/Friday morning work may result in discoloured water in Poraiti and Tamatea.

The council says if discolouration does occur in residents’ water supply, they should run cold and/or outside taps for 10 to 15 minutes or until the water is clear.

If the problem persists, contact the council’s customer service centre immediately on (06) 835 7579.
