What’s on in the Bay this weekend?

With another weekend just around the corner, let’s dive in and see what’s happening across the Bay.

Don’t forget, you can find more activity options – including movie listings and a kids section – under the Thigs to do button on the Hawke’s Bay App. We also have the latest forecasts on the Weather/Travel button.

Phuntsok Choeling, the Hawke’s Bay Tibetan Buddhist Centre, is honoured that the 42nd Sakya Trizin, His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, will be sharing his wisdom and teachings in Napier this weekend. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday sessions at the MTG Century Theatre are a rare opportunity for people to learn about Buddhism by listening to one of the most highly qualified and accomplished masters of Tibetan Buddhism in modern times on the subject of “Karma, Clear Mirror of Cause and Effect”.

Friday

For some Friday night frights there’s the DeadHill - March Scare Tour at the old Napier Prison. Matron has chosen March to let the ghouls out to play, so book your friends in for a very strange tour inside the oldest and most haunted prison in New Zealand.

Dine With... 2019, at the Napier Conference Centre is a charity fundraising dinner and auction for the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service. Enjoy an exquisite dinner, all in the name of a very worthy course.

Music around the Bay on Friday night includes Stretch - The Chasing Summer Tour at the Urban Winery in Ahuriri and Fraser Mack at Crab Farm Winery, Bay View.

Saturday

Start your Saturday with a Pelvic Power Class in Napier.

There’s a Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss session in Napier where you can learn about natural weight reduction through virtual gastric band hypnotherapy, a non-surgical technique which uses the power of hypnosis to retrain you to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food and healthier eating options.

The Environment Centre Hawke's Bay has a Worm Farm Workshop in Hastings. Learn how to set up and care for your worm farm from their expert.

The Hastings City Art Gallery has an Artist Talk with Kauri Hawkins who will discuss his exhibition Red vs Blue.

For some relaxing Saturday afternoon music there’s Summer to Autumn with Fraser Mack at Abbey Cellars.

The Rochelle Spence Dance Studio present Tales of Pooh Bear as the main part of their annual dance recital at the Napier Municipal Theatre with performances at 2pm and 7pm.

Sunday

Sunday kicks off with the Ossian Street Vintage Market in Ahuriri, the Bays Weekend Market on Napier’s Marine Parade, and the Taradale Sunday Market.

For Sunday afternoon music, there’s Summer Sundaze at Abbey Cellars, the Sunday Sessions at Bareknuckle Yard in Hastings, and the Puketapu Sunday Sessions with Fraser Mack at the Puketapu pub.

Round your weekend off with Wellington Heads, playing at the Napier Sailing Club. They’re a six-piece line-up who have evolved their own sound through the influences of Kansas-style blue jazz, the swinging rhythm ‘n blues of Louis Jordan and Ray Charles, and Chicago blues, all infused with Pacific/Hawaiian rhythms and Latino feels.

That’s it this weekend. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Things to do section of the app for updates and more activity suggestions, and the Weather section of the app – so you’ll know what to wear.
